Kano gov mourns activist

The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has condoled with the family members of a Kano-based civil society activist, Ibrahim Maryam, who passed away in the early hours of Friday.

Yusuf described the deceased, as a progressive, who paid his dues through consistent advocacy efforts on good governance, accountability and transparency to the government in Kano state.

A statement issued by Sanusi Tofa, the spokesperson for the governor, indicated that the 60-year-old activist died after a brief illness and was survived by his widow and four children.

“We wish to extend our heartfelt condolence to his immediate family and Kano Civil Society Forum, we pray that Allah Subbahahu wa Ta’ala forgive all his misdeeds and dwell him in the best part of Jannatul Firdaus” prayed, the governor.
